Related: About this forumHey guys
Went in today for some lung/breathing tests. Smoked since I was 17, quit about 4 years ago. I'm 69. "aggressive smoker." Had a CT scan. Doctor's office called and scheduled a PET scan next Wednesday. Apparently have nodules, which, according to google, seem normal for a smoker. Plus, one of the symptoms of lung cancer is loss of weight/appetite, so in that regard, I feel really confident! haha!
Would love to hear from anyone with similar symptoms, experiences, etc. I tend to be a bit melodramatic, and I'm already planning my funeral! Damn! It's okay, laugh at me. Prefer laughter to tears.

(3,739 posts)The medical technology/equipment used today allows doctors to see a lot of things they never would have seen years ago. And a lot of what they see is harmless/normal/no big deal. But there is a lot of "defensive medicine" going on these days too. Once they see something, they feel the need to check it out thoroughly. And you would be surprised how often it turns out to be nothing.
But I definitely get it and understand your anxiety. I've been there and when the "small lesion" turned out to be nothing I wanted those terrifying two weeks of my life back!! I know many people who have had similar experiences...including my own doctor who told me she was told there was a "mass" seen on her liver after some kind of scan. She told me when they told her she started yelling "What? What the hell are you talking about?" and then it turned out to be nothing! (Love my doctor for being so honest).
Hang it there.

Best of luck with treatment.
As a vet, I get one free plot in a military cemetery. They'll dig the hole deep enough to hold me, as well as up to two wives. Should be a wild time in eternity.

(9,581 posts)at the idea of you with two wives buried for eternity together. Hey, it could be heaven or it could be hell.
