German-jewish artist tackles race-issue with Riefenstahl-aesthetics

Marc Erwin Babej set out to tackle the issue of race and Germany. Who is german? In his photo-series he combined Germans that never would have counted as Germans during the Third Reich with Leni-Riefenstahl-aesthetics.

In german thinking, being a german citizen and being a German is still not the same. This is especially noticeable among descendants of immigrants, when they talk about "the Germans".
