Here is what is wrong with DU...this is an AA forum topic only

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026003869#post225

This thread was started by someone who wanted to make sure EVERYBODY knew the Black person in this shooting was absolutely guilty, you can see them RACING to their laptop to make sure this thread got going, you can see many who agree with him RACING to the thread to say "Yep, Black guy guilty this time"

Now, besides the fact that the facts are NOT in on this case, what bothers me is you wont see many of the supporters in that thread posting in other threads about race, and I know why.

But you can be god damn sure that if they get a chance to hide a post by someone like myself or many of the AA posters here, they will be johnny on the spot.

This is making me mad, I want these people to be out in the open more, but I dont know how to make that happen.

If this thread is bad, wrong, against the rules, then delete it and I will understand, thanks.

Anyone with that few posts is not "DU" they are one drop falling into the ocean that is DU. They could be anyone.

In order to stay with DU you have to be able to step back, filter and only participate in things that matter to you cause there is an awful lot posted here that either does not matter or is just plain wrong.

Whether or not you rise to any bait is entirely up to you. You chose what to participate in what to alert on and what to ignore. Sometimes the best thing to do is to let some things disappear under the avalanche of posts cause nobody bit. GD is the wild, wild west.

If they are posting crap in an interest group then the mods should be doing some filtering according to the group rules. Don't like what the mods are doing? Don't read that group's threads.

Nobody can read everything on DU so everyone is forced to be selective and it takes a a few dust ups, to find your balance. Some people want you to argue with them because arguing with them takes up your time and energy which might be spent in action. Some people are just evil. Some are deluded. Some think it is funny to start trouble. So find your balance and you can find and do a lot here to make things better and that is why this place started in the first place, to make things better.

They always seem to say they need to wait for facts, but this time they're confident without waiting for facts.

happened by anything. The dead tell no tales. I'm getting more and more uncomfortable with this place...

It's more like DI with posts being allowed to stay, I never thought would be permitted. The arguments used are the same, almost word for word.

As far as posting in AA to talk, I think DU is going through a transformation, like much of the rest of the country. The BlackLives Matter movement must be changing people in online communities just as they in the real world.

An awful lot is being exposed, that has long needed to be. I'd just advise to keep out trolls here a disclaimer as we put in the BOG. DI really hates BOG and HOF with a passion and it looks like AA is on their list now too.

Keep on keeping on, I think this is going to work out in the end. Say whatever the heck you want to say in this group, it's a safe haven, but there must be gatekeepers, unfortunately.

Too many posting at DU are openly hostile to Democrats, black leaders in general, PBO, women and all minorities, and are really showing themselves to be rebelling against the success of all those groups. I may be too optimistic, but I see it as a good sign.

I am seeing some doing the right thing now. Hope this post helps, but I often don't post as I'm not black and have no intention of diminishing this movement by making it anything other than what it is.

It is time for black people to tell the rest of America what it is to live with this and to not stop. Because some will listen; but even if they don't, it helps to define solutions to work around those who are making trouble for AA's.
