I was puzzled by the lack of responses there so I thought maybe there would be feedback on this Shelby Steele vs Ta-Nehisi Coates debate here.

Coates has solid well founded arguments.

(31,849 posts)for not laughing at Steele's argument and not slapping Steele when he said that in the name of "freedom", (America) has no responsibility for repairing the income gap our government created.
ETA: Maybe Steele's book better argues his point ... but I will likely never know, unless someone gives me a copy, as I won't be paying to read it.

(18,124 posts)is audacious and amazing in his willingness to further AA push down and back behind all others by denying the real need for social and racial justice in this culture that is killing POC, young and old, in alarming numbers. His denial of any problem(s) is indicative of the divide and conquer strategy that was instituted early on in the house and field 'negroes' and is still in effect today. He's eating well and be damn everyone else who hasn't sold their soul for that meal offered up by his handlers.
