if all(any) of the candidates

would be real and speak openly about the racial injustice currently(always) running rampant in this country, I would be surprised. They won't, for fear of turning off the more easily offended democrats who don't want to face that reality lived by millions in this country.

I tend to agree with you - I'm waiting for G to get home to watch Clinton's speech (dvr'd it). I want to hear what she said.

The reality is - the bigotry being made public and approved by the public since late 2007 has made it apparent that our rights are fragile.

influence that hate-radio has on the country. RW talkers like Limbaugh and Michael Berry try to intimidate politicians from both sides to never discuss and critique race, and those who do will get attacked as race-pimps. Having a meaningful dialogue on it is damn near impossible with RW radio around. This also shows how out of touch even part of the Left is. Too many people (even posters on this site) won't listen, and instead will throw the line around about needing to focus more on economic injustice and the "99% vs. the 1%" rather than any social injustices (rather than it being a balance between the 2). Never mind the fact that even a rich Black person faces discrimination and is seen as scum by the Stormfront crowd and such, and never mind an educated Black person sometimes having more limited job opportunities than even an uneducated White person. Like you said, I don't expect any of the 2016 hopefuls to dive in and get messy. Pres. O did and said what he could about Black issues, and we see how badly he got piled on by his enemies over the years.

The thing is - its them. And it has been since 1976.

Thank you for weighing in on this.

Two black men - years apart - years.

See it the same.

That should give pause to Democrats.

Heaven has been clear in other threads - that he never thought he'd see it so blatantly in his life. The thing working for your generation (I'm in between the two of you) - is his generation gave you a blueprint to fight it. Now it needs to be refined and driven into the Constitution.

I have your back.

It's just a form of projection the RW has done: calling anybody a racist for pointing out any flaws in race relations, when they're the ones guilty of racism. People like that are ironically among my main inspirations for getting interested in politics in the first place and staying active. They inspired me to join the fight in thwarting their plans to turn the country further backwards.

yet, this race issue is larger than the candidates ever want to admit to or discuss, election season or not. I am, because of mental prompting, here, starting to watch and wait for some satisfaction from the presumptive democratic party candidate(s). I am getting rather frustrated that the playbook HAS stayed the same, for white democratic party candidates and most white people in general regarding the minority/POC community, for decades. And that only because they (the democrats) assume they have our vote in the bag because of open GOP hate for POC, not realizing their less obvious subconscious racial hate is shown by their inaction or lack of openly addressing CRITICAL minority issues facing our race and it ain't economic, it being one cause of many. More mental reminders from some who are concerned here.

Some people on here calling themselves allies and giving assurances of support only go on to prove to me everyday that they are not allies, progressive or liberal, but the DINO's I've been dealing with since my early days of perceiving racial hate in this country toward POC and battling against it Those who try to distract or diminish the ongoing and virulent racial hate present in people of this culture toward POC are either just rationalizing(to feel better themselves) or really trying to take the focus off what is real and fact. That fact being, as you said, no matter how much money, fame or stature a black person has, they can end up dead in the street because of some perceived civil infraction or "threat", just because of the color of their skin. Don't get me wrong, these types, that deny this reality, have always been among us, slowing and even stopping the quest for racial equality with the slickly packaged reasons you mentioned and are so familiar with, of which I say bravo!. And every time they come up with that BS we should, metaphorically, slap it down! Hard. And don't fear them turning against us because they were never for us, really, they ARE just about holding on to their privilege. I won't be tricked by those who put their perceived white privilege, with it's obvious perks, before racial equality for all, as I have seen done here and in other supposedly 'progressive' forums and circles for decades. I feel it's a game with them to see how long they can keep tricking and disrespecting the People of Color residing in this land.

Baltimore, which I agreed with wholeheartedly, scared the shit out of the privileged and to tell the truth, in this generations long war of demanding human rights, civil rights and equality of POC, Watts, Detroit, Newark was the only thing that got change started, since retreated from by the privileged with their SCOTUS and that RW hate radio you mentioned as well as the television talking heads of Fox news who feel that they (whites)have done enough for those POC. Our true righteous anger at racial injustice, murder and executions is the real power we have and that the 'authority' and those who gain their privilege from that authority, fear. It makes a lot understand that they have a real chance of losing the accouterments of their privilege because of inaction against inequality.

So we must, I feel, continue to call out the hypocrisy of our so called allies and continue for, as you represent, another generation of standing against the hate machine of both party's, and that RW radio and television so well represent.

As NextGen alluded to, you are our present hope to continue the battle against stupid, ignorant and privileged folks who really don't give a damn about our rights...keep up the fight for awareness. It's the only thing keeping us as a force to be reckoned with. Yeah they have the guns, tanks ect, but we have our rights, as NextGen said, to our Constitutional guarantee to equality. That being said, we ARE educated, logical and reasoning human beings that are aware and daily being reminded of the injustice and WHY it has continued for 150 years and more... keep fighting

about the so-called allies is that when it comes to these types of issues at least, they're the ones straying away from what the Left is supposed to stand for. As I understand it, left-wing politics is about fighting for both economic and social fairness, but our concerns get dismissed by some as just wedges. That's why I roll my eyes sometimes when I see people get called "DINOs" and "social justice warriors". And as much as a staunch Democrat as I am and as much as I hate to admit this, Blacks really don't have much of a choice when it comes to which party to throw our support behind. One of the 2 major parties routinely hate-mongers against us and other minority groups, and the other major party (while not so much hate-mongering) sometimes sees our demographic as a given and something they don't need to work as hard for as with other groups.

4. All of the Democratic candidates will speak to racial injustice ...

However, they will do so very differently ... I suspect, HRC will speak more openly (directly) about racial injustice, as a stand alone issue; whereas, Bernie will speak to racial injustice but/and (primarily, if not only) in the context of economic injustice ... and/but, I don't know enough about O'Malley to hazard a guess how he will approach the topic.

And, by these approaches, HRC will pull along the Black vote, and Bernie will remain suspect (or worse) to the Black electorate.

Note to the universe: If someone TELLS you, repeatedly, that your message misses them, it's not a good strategy to just keep repeating that message ... and, it's a worse strategy to tell them (rather, ignore it when your surrogates/supporters tell them) those telling you your message misses them, are just too stupid to understand your message.
