Jada Pinkett Smith Talks ‘Annie’ Remake with Willow Smith and Jay-Z

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett announced last year that they were partnering with Jay-Z to develop and produce a remake of the 1982 musical Annie. The film will star their 11-year-old daughter Willow, with Jay-Z handling musical duties.

“We’re partnering with Jay-Z and Roc Nation as far as Annie is concerned. Willow’s going to star,” Jada told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb during her appearance on the “Today” show.

The couple’s son Jaden previously starred in a remake of The Karate Kid. “We had success with Jaden with Karate Kid,” she added. “That was a film that Will and I both loved. We were like, ‘We have got to bring justice to this movie.’”

They plan to do the same for Annie. “Annie’s a classic. We are taking our time to make sure the script is right and you know Jay-Z’s gonna kill the music.”

This will either be the greatest thing in the history of the best traditions of Black American artistic expression, or the worst

interesting to think about this in the context of Jay Z's decoded. in the book, he admits to lying about how he loved the movie annie in order to get the rights to use it in his song. well, maybe he does actually like the movie a bit.

write something totally original and good. You are all well capable of doing that. Don't retread this. Be original.
