Disregard, I went ahead and did it :)

I was asking for your advice...

It's DU related. I don't want to start a shit storm by simply asking the question in GD.

I haven't been privy to the many threads over the last however many months regarding the need for racial justice -- separate from economic justice. Yet I know there have been such threads and they're draining for those trying to educate why racial justice is a separate (though connected) issue.

I want to create a poll asking how many DUers believe there is a need in the United States right now for systemic and cultural transformation regarding racial, social (gender issues, etc.), AND economic justice. All three. Simply a poll.

Do you feel that's an inflammatory question? I'm not trying to stir shit, I just really want to gauge how people feel about that.

I want to relaunch Wishadoo with a specific focus on gathering a community of those supportive of (or at least want to learn more if they're simply not informed) and/or engaged in issues of racial, social, and economic justice; those who long for civil, respectful dialogue to counteract the negative (to say the least) general online culture; and those who long to employ compassion and empathy as we collaborate in a variety of ways to reduce suffering and increase joy.

Prior to this campaign season kicking in, I would have assumed that everyone (except trolls) at DU would definitely agree with the need for racial AND social justice and economic justice.

The last few weeks have left me stunned, no longer knowing who, if anyone, would really be on board with my plans.

I thought creating a poll asking the racial/social/economic justice question would provide some insight for me, but I don't want to reopen a topic that has already been hashed out to death and lines drawn.

If you've been here throughout those discussions and arguments, do you feel I should feel okay creating such a poll or should I leave it alone?

Thanks very much.

Scan the first few pages of GD and you can see several polls like that and the scattered debris that resulted.

D you know if there is a way to view only polls that have been posted here? I just perused the first 10 pages of GD but don't see anything related to that at all. (But the first 10 pages only takes us back to Monday.)

Maybe they're posing the question in GDP...I rarely go there and wouldn't want to pose it there, as I'm not asking it re: current politics but more for personal opinions.

Thanks for the feedback.

Btw, I agree with ya. But even if tons of resources are poured into your query, do you really think that would change minds?
There is a huge need. We must educate people that all are human.
I really think that there is a DNA thing going on.
Be it tribalism, fear of difference, whatever. I don't think that just education is the answer.
What is? Oh, my dog, tell me. I'll be there with bells on my feet and ribbons in my hair.

At this point, I'm just trying to find out how many feel the same way.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by "even if tons of resources are poured into your query"?

I just posed a question for my own information. Thanks.

I did this for personal reasons, but I wonder what tool could be employed to gauge how the general populace feels about these three questions and how many would agree?

A petition doesn't feel like the proper tool. Maybe an online survey -- to try to take the pulse of the general citizenry as it concerns these questions?

Hmmmm.....
