Does anyone understand why I'm posting this here?

I saw this on www.DailyKos.com and it was like a wake-up call. It reminded my of how after 9/11, Arab-Americans became targets of the most incredible hate, and we knew how they felt.

I see this and I get it, but I also realize that the Latino community is taken aback by the level of hatred, and how it has been pushed to the forefront of the campaign. I think they are taking a page from our book in their response, and I wish them well.

Republican presidential candidates have been making racist remarks about Latinos in the U.S., and they aren't falling on deaf ears. Those same candidates choosing to skip July's National Council of La Raza conference in Kansas City—which was attended by Democrats Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Martin O'Malley—didn't go unnoticed. Acting as if Latinos don't matter in U.S. elections is not only bad politics, it is the height of political stupidity. Latinos listen.

1. How quickly they forget

Seems like just yesterday the GOP was talking about how they were going to capture a big share of the Latino vote. Good luck with that now. They figure they can use dog whistles to excite their base voters for the primaries, then run back to the middle and start sounding reasonable for the general election. That's fine for the mass of voters not paying attention, but Latinos are paying attention, and they won't forget all this before next November.

What blows me away is how not one of the Republican candidates has taken an opposite stance, to try to secure that voting block. They were so blown away by the positive response to Trump's ugliness that they all jumped on. It's been rather sick to watch.

Not even Jeb, with the Latino nephew.

I keep waiting for them to come after us. So far, just Obama. But it's just a matter of time.

Now I'm not surprised based upon how a few of the folks have handled having gay /lesbian children - but c'mon people.

And I get why you put this in here!

As sick, as sad and as stupid as all this is, I can't help but hope that the end game is that the Republican party will alienate every halfway intelligent and decent person so thoroughly that they will never support them again.

My only fear -- terror, actually -- is that Trump will energize the racist and stupid so much that they may actually get him into the White House or damn close to it. And lets be honest, there are a SHIT LOAD of racist and stupid Americans. We cannot allow these people to take over.

Trump will never have the black vote, he's alienated the Latino vote, he can't win any Democrats, and most Independents have half a brain, which is why we're independent, so we won't buy into his massive ego-tripping.

The important thing is for the Democrats to have a candidate that energizes the Independent base.

to come together and find common cause like yesterday. If one of us falls, we all will. None of us can afford to give an inch now. We cannot afford to abandon one another over manufactured divisions.

4. Most cons running are doing it for the money, they make tremendous profits running.

Jeb is the only really serious candidate, him and Christie.

They both can win, or could someday, and neither needs the money.

The rest are in it for the cash.

Sure, Huckabee and Carson and Santorum also want to keep hatred of Gays and Muslims on the front page, that hatred is very important to them so they do it for that reason also.

Not to mention how much they ALL hate Women.

going to be put into the lecture circuit if you were ever able to get that far.

Speaking tonight

"Former GOP Candidate for President of the USA"

blah blah

Then if you get elected, once you leave office you cash in big time BIG TIME

Some Dems do this too, but most Dems, not all, at least have a modicum of desire to accomplish something good for everybody
