Related: About this forumI truly want to thank everybody for the support you have shown me and bravenak in this forum.
When I first joined this board in July of 2003 I did so in the hope of advancing liberal causes and pushing back on conservative ones. Perhaps my passion got the best of me at times.
Any way, thank you again for your support... All of you, especially my brother, 1StrongBlackMan, are in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season. I truly love you all.

When I was fourteen my heroes were the martyred Kennedy brothers, Dr. King, and Muhammad Ali, and they still are now.

(24,598 posts)The only time I saw him in person was during Dr. King's funeral procession. I was 22 at the time, and made an a$$ of myself by squealing "There's Bobby" to a friend.
btw This is a very interesting picture taken during the procession. Note the title of the movie that was playing:

(15,373 posts)The only Kennedy I ever met in person was Ted, who came to speak at a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer reunion.
I joined the Peace Corps in 1964, the year after JFK was martyred. I was still abroad in 1968, when RFK and Dr. King were martyred.
In my heart at least, their flames will burn forever.

I will continue to post polls and positive articles. That's about it.

(16,286 posts)the party chair and for my passion I am blocked from the Hillary group, having already been blocked by the Bernie group.
Fuck it, done.
I will talk here in AfAm and I will work OUT THERE as I already do to prevent voter obstruction, but I am signing off politics at DU.
Now, because I actually CARE that we dont start killing Women and Gay folk and Black folk when Prez Cruz says it is no longer illegal to do so, that I actually CARE about this god damn country and not letting the horrid and vile teaparty ASSHOLES take over, I might change my mind in an hour and start raging again about this.
In the meantime I am so grateful for you and the others here in AfAm....
Call me crazy, I dont care who's feewings are hurt or who did what with voter lists, I care about ONLY one thing, preventing the most ignorant, mean and undisciplined Americans in over 100 years from taking over our government.
For my trouble, I have been told no part of the Democratic Party wants me. No WONDER this country is so fucked up as to our politics.

(16,286 posts)I appreciate you and your posts.
As an actual LIBERAL (at a minimum democratic socialist but further left than that) I get a kick out of what passes around here for same.
I dont expect Hillary folk to agree with me on some stuff, but I also dont expect or get shit thrown in my face for disagreeing with them.
Not usually anyway.
Obama, last night on Bear Grylls, said "be kind and be helpful"
That is how easy it is. Or not.

(11,833 posts)So does bravenak. So does 1SB. So does everyone in this group. I read and listen. I feel the ripples of hope. They multiply. I'm typing out the RFK quote because it's so beautiful and true.
Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

(13,616 posts)Do not get me wrong, there will be time we disagree, but neither of us believes that any of that is an excuse to act like animals, or fail to maintain scrutiny.
And regardless of which Democrat people want to throw into the election arena, one truth is clear: The way AA's have been treated in this forum is a DISGRACE! Dare to offend people in other forms, get banned, but the AA forum has been put as a punching bag for everyone of all stripes to hit on.
Please..stay strong, and stay vocal. If the internet does not offer a HAVEN for voices that do not get listened to, it will become a glorified video game with lousy graphics..
