(383 posts)I guarantee that ALL of the jurors are/were conservative Republicans.
This kind of bias is why juries can be rigged...
In a Republican "colorblind" society, people of color (just about everyone else) are screwed if there are issue of animus, bias or violence related to their skin color.

(31,849 posts)but "Georgie"!
I read here an article (that I haven't researched) that she referred to zimmerman as "Georgie", suggesting a degree of familiarity, if not affection.
I guess I'm gonna have to wait for the transcript.

This jury was split initially. One believed it was 2nd degree, two believed it was manslaughter. But, this woman BELIEVED FROM THE MOMENT she entered the room, he wasn't guilty. I'm telling you...this chick flipped the others. She's bossy. You can tell. She convinced the others to go along with her.
You looking at the blackened (appropriately enough) image of the woman who made sure George walked. Her book...whenever she writes it, WILL have her name on it, and her face in the jacket. She's that confident. Eventually she'll be doing interviews without the black out.

(1,989 posts)She said she knew when she went into deliberations that George was not guilty. How about that? She said it was George's voice on the tape. Better yet...YES, she believed George followed Trayvon and shouldn't have.
She believes Trayvon struck the first blow. She said the evidence showed her that. But, she believed Trayvon hit him BECAUSE he was being followed by George.
...and she believes George had a good heart...but was tired of people getting away with vandalism and such.
Mind you, this is a rather rough paraphrase.

(1,989 posts)She wants us to empathize with how hard it was on them.
ALTHOUGH, she walked into the room with her mind made up. But, now I'm interested in some of the others.
One believed it should have been 2nd degree Murder, two others thought manslaughter. So, you know they spent that time, flipping the ones that wanted Zimmerman to go to jail. That's the real story.
Did she bully them. Did they flip because they truly BECAME convinced that Zimmerman was not guilty or because they just weren't tough enough to hold their ground against someone who walked into the room convinced he should go free.
Plus, this woman's husband is a lawyer. She might be the type that believes that because her husband is a lawyer, she's all wise and should be listened to.
You know the type.
Plus, her lawyer husband actually knows one of the lawyers for the defense (O'Mara). Coincidence, no doubt. But, one heck of a coincident.
She shed some crocodile tears, though. If she's choked up, maybe it's because she thought she'd get a ticker tape parade when she came out. After all, she said she and the other jurors NEVER thought race was an issue and never discussed it.
