LeRoy Bonner, The Ohio Players lead singer has passed

Last edited Sun Feb 7, 2016, 12:33 AM - Edit history (1)

RIP Sugar Foot. 2016 has been awful for losing talented people

EDIT- I apologize for passing on an item that came through my FB feed. A friend posted a RIP message - I googled Ohio players singer dies, saw some articles but did not notice the date.

Mr Bonner passed 3 years ago.

I feel like shit about it, but I'll leave it up as a reminder to always check before posting.

Ohio Players, Parliament/Funkadelic, and Cameo are my all-time favorite funk bands. Liberal_Stalwart71 Feb 2016 #10

I tried to avoid listening to music during the time of disco, but you have to sit up and take notice when those horns pump it out.

My other favorite group. Just watch an Unsung episode about them! I think it was an old repeat during their Marathon!

Still working on The Funk Music Hall of Fame, with a Funk Festival dream literally dying...

RIP to Dan Hicks, as well - a true musical legend.

What a gorgeous museum that's going to be.
Looking forward to watching the videos later today.
Thanks!

to hear the straight up funk of the Ohio Players.

My first concert ever was called The Extravaganza at the Capitol Center in D.C., featuring the Ohio Players, Bar-Kays, KC and the Sunshine Band, and I forget the other group. Those were the days of pure funk with a little disco thrown in.

Thanks for the memories!
