Warning! This post contains nothing about the primaries and has nothing to do with any candidate.
Vel Phillips was a Wisconsin attorney who served as a local official and judge in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and as Secretary of State of Wisconsin, often as the first woman and/or African-American in her position.
Saturday morning, a great documentary about Vel Phillips was on. I had no idea who she was, or what the doc was going to be about, but I watched it over coffee. After watching it, she's waaaay up there on my Admiration Meter. Turns out, the doc is freely available, it's only an hour long, and this particular gal is Incredibly Incredible.

(8,709 posts)Ms. Phillips' life is the stuff of legends! Her list of firsts is just ridiculous. This documentary captured so much but I'm sure a lot was left out.
I'm so glad to know much more of the woman in the photo with Kennedy. IMHO, this should be required viewing for every Milwaukee child, at least. And I'm so glad the documentary had her voice throughout it.
Just Excellent treatment.
Thank You, LanternWaste!
