BLM Activist Challenges Killer Mike's Argument For Bernie Sanders
rapper Killer Mike made a passionate plea for supporting Bernie Sanders while referencing BLM Activist Marissa Janae Johnson. She joins TWIB! Prime to give her response. Full interview here:

(2,197 posts)I completely agree with Johnson but especially how black people are being used as pawns by the white Left, Dems, Sanders, and Hillary Clinton.

(68,867 posts)My daughter who is involved in the movement and made mentioned of this....
did end up voting for Hillary in Mass.
So I'm glad that, at least, it is not Hillary Clinton circulating a similar type of Killer Mike video without the consent
from the person being referred to at she says at 4:46, "because these people are using me as an endorsement, same people were sending me death threats, and calling me a c_nt."
so I'm thankful for that!
and she also spoke of the misogyny at 6:00 which I thought was quite interesting.
The fact that she doesn't appreciate being called a little Black girl, or her name being
used in a deceptive manner by a Black man, in the name of Bernie Sanders.
I wonder how some people would feel if that was their daughter? Her being called names and people wanting to fight her, and then sending her death threats just because they didn't like her presence at that Sanders rally!
Chitown Kev
(2,197 posts)did that for rhetorical effect but that jumped out at me too. As Ms. Johnson pointed out, that crowd in Seattle sure wasn't calling her names that one would associate with a "little girl."
Neither did a lot of the posters here at DU (or at DK), for that matter but they sure love BLM nowadays...for now anyway ...
...its' the CBC on the shit list (even though no progressive legislation would ever get passed without those establishment oligarchs in the Congressional Black Caucus).
I'm getting fed up with the whole thing, myself

(68,867 posts)and the fact that Killer Mike is using her name without her consent is not cool at all,
as this is a national campaign so that's quite brash, IMO!
Especially after getting death threats from his supporters.
She says she's pissed...
So I'm pissed too!

(31,240 posts)All kidding aside, I now have zero respect for Killer Mike & Simone Sanders. Simone, who was also a BLM activist, got a job with the BS campaign, and then instructed the crowd to shout them down, if BLM ever attempted to take the mic again.

(24,544 posts)woman went to speak before that crowd?? Do you think he believes that maybe the footage of that shameful crap has all been erased/destroyed??
Because otherwise for the LIFE of me, I cannot understand why that man is acting as though Sanders "opened his arms" to these "poor, trembling little black girls" -- love how he REPEATEDLY refers to them as "black girls" -- and welcomed them into the fold when the whole damn world knows that's not even close to what happened. Why is he saying this bullshit???
I had never heard of Killer Mike before all of this and if this is the way he's going to conduct himself in service to his candidate, then I'm happy to not hear from him again for a long time.
Tarheel_Dem
(31,240 posts)even heard of. I'm assuming surrogates, as loyal & as tone deaf as Killer Mike are handsomely paid for said loyalty. His "outreach", as it were, has been disastrous for the BS campaign if he's supposed to be pulling in black support.
Like you, I had never heard of him, so I just assumed that he was all the rave of the millennial set. But, knowing that you Gen X'ers don't know him either, makes me feel so much better. However, the fact that Killer thinks we're all blind or stupid says much more about him than I ever wanted to know.

(24,544 posts)were being kind. It's a hell of alot worse that that.
And I thought it was hysterical that Janae was talking about the death threats and names she was called -- IN BETWEEN MLK QUOTES. Damn, does that shit sound familiar or what???
Is there a fucking class that some white people take on how to be as paternalistic and racially clueless as possible? The idea that white people feel that black people who disagree with them need to have random MLK quotes tossed at them is easily one of the stupidest, most tone deaf and ignorant things I've ever seen. Talk about FUCKING "white washing."

"Total lack of respect for black women within the political realm"--The is why I love BLM, they aren't for any candidate, the are a powerful movement-- for black lives, not white politics. "Extreme political theater" indeed

(11,243 posts)her at that Sander's campaign event and then BIT a young mom who tried to protect her from the crowd? Biters! Whoa, how did I miss that?
Rod, stop being such problem
Totally worth listening to the entire thing for the discussion about what Bernie Sanders smells like at the very end. Freedom, old man, MLK's dreams or a blunt?
After hearing that interview, one would think they would know better than to try to appropriate here support. She is clearly not onboard with either campaign and not a bit shy about saying why.

(24,544 posts)That the same crowd that called BLM activists "thugs," "subhuman" and questioned their sanity and their very fucking HUMANITY are now the same ones using them to prop up the ailing campaign of their candidate. The folks who called this woman "cunt" (to use her word), "crazy" and God knows what else are now screaming about how much they support BLM and even -- ASTONISHINGLY -- using their deranged behavior last year to sell their candidate!!!!!
I thought that Sanders using the attempted theft of Hillary's data to fundraise was the lowest point I'd seen this campaign. I think we just hit another one.

And yes, BLM is about getting attention for their cause, forcing politicians to talk about it and take action. And they are doing a great job. I am amazed that someone would attempt to use them in a stump speech, even just a surrogate, without permission.
