(31,823 posts)I'm a die hard - DIE HARD Prince Fan. Albums, Tapes, CDS. Have CDs of Tapes and Albums. Seen him perform 18 times. To me - this is the happiest of his songs - hopeful. Enjoy if you don't know it!
Oh-oh
Wherever you go, whatever you do
Oh please, remember that I'll always be there for you
You don't have to call, you don't have to say
Just think about me and I'll be on my way
I don't have to worry, I'm sure you'll be fine
Cause if you stay happy, then what's yours is mine
Wherever you go, whatever you do
Remember that I'll always be there for you
(Oh Baby)
Wherever you are, think of your dreams
Oh please, remember life ain't always what it seems
For each rainy day (rainy day)
That comes your way
The sun will come shining and you'll be okay
Keep on smiling, every girl and boy
Remember when you were children you had toys
Wherever you are, think of your dreams
Remember that dreams become the life you lead
Whatever you play, it's okay to lose
Oh sometimes (sometimes)
As long as you learn from every game you choose
If one thing is sure, you'll always endure
If you try your best at everything you do
Say what you mean and mean what you say
The price for a broken heart, it's to much to pay
And nothing is worth it, if you don't have to try
The higher the stakes, the higher the sky
Wherever you go, whatever you do
Please remember
Remember that I'll always be there for you

(31,823 posts)Springsteen and Billy Joel right now.
And The Cure - the entire band. Because I'm going to see them for the first time on June 19th.
And Lenny Kravitz because - LENNY! Who instagrammed Prince like toute suite.

(41,984 posts)I know it's part of life, but Prince. Shit. And I am a mild fan compared to you. His music always speaks to me. You must be devastated.

(31,823 posts)This is where my head went when my best friend sent me the text - It's from Under The Cherry Moon
Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war,
Just after I'd wiped away his last tear
I guess he's better off than he was before,
A whole lot better off than the fools he left here
I used to cry for Tracy because he was my only friend
Those kind of cars don't pass you every day
I used to cry for Tracy because I wanted to see him again,
But sometimes sometimes life ain't always the way
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last
Springtime was always my favorite time of year,
A time for lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears
Always cry for love, never cry for pain
He used to say so strong unafraid to die
Unafraid of the death that left me hypnotized
No, staring at his picture I realized
No one could cry the way my Tracy cried
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last
I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer to all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
But all good things, they say, never last
All good things that say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's past

(11,833 posts)Some of my faves: Mountains, Controversy, How Come U Don't Call Me Any More, Sign O' the Times, Get Off, Manic Monday, Darling Nikki, Starfish & Coffee, If I Was Your Girlfriend, That song where he mentions Joni Mitchell (on Sign O the Times), Erotic City, 7, Sister, Head, The Cross, International Lover, Guitar, Pop Life, Joy in Repetition, U Got the Look, all the hits ... damn... too many to mention! Oh and all the bootleg concerts - him doing the Radiohead song Creep at Coachella is one of my favs!
Bootleg question for JAG & all Prince o philes:
There's a song on Crystal Ball about three women (one in high school, I think they were sisters & or friends). Acoustic song. Does anyone recall the name of that song? I have it somewhere but it's not labeled. I want to find that song!

(11,833 posts)it's not that one. I'm sure I'll find the name of it soon. It's from a 3 cd set that I ordered a while back from Prince's web site. I think it's called Crystal Ball. It's a bunch of stuff from his vault. Includes a lot of jazzy & funky stuff. I have it around and will listen to the whole thing in the next week or so. It didn't come with any liner notes or cover art or track listings - I was supposed to download it from the site at the time but must have forgotten or misplaced it. Just the weirdest most fascinating fairly short song about these three girls who hang around after school and get all mystical and stuff (in Prince's unique & raunchy way, lol).
I saw your list of your fav songs and was fascinated that, while we had some overlaps we all have our absolute favorite Prince songs! What a unique creative genius, when our favorite ten or 20 songs of his only have a few overlaps. Oh, and I forgot about When You Were Mine - that's an absolute fave of mine too!

(31,823 posts)I love The Cross! It had that psychedelic vibe. A few months ago another member was posting about seeing Donovan in concert and I was soooo jealous!
One of my favorite songs of all time is Season of The Witch - and The Cross, Anna Stesia, Alphabet Street, Starfish and Coffee - they have that same vibe.
He was only 14/15 years older than me but I have a feeling he grew up with parents who listened to the wide broad music library my parents had. There's a side story - The Clarinet for Flute war with my dad but I mastered both. Music, dance, art were a big deal in our house. A Sunday might start with Miles Davis, jump to CCR, Muddy, the Stones, Etta, Prince, the Supremes, Rick James, Bad Company, Johnny Cash.
My parents put this young cat Prince on the same level as Muddy and Johnny - and that's cool.
