but I hadn't heard of the Gullah Wars, full-on military battles, which went on for many years.

(11,243 posts)It makes me angry that I didn't know about that. I know about the Gullah islands off the SC coast and heard of Seminoles but didn't understand there was a connection. And I was taught that there were no successful slave revolts in the US, only in the Caribbean.
