Strangely, or not. Many of the responses in DU, to AA issues are absurd!

I mean totally out of the park absurd. WTH?

being who I am.. I have no clue how African Americans feel about anything.

But, I did just read some of the responses in bravenak's thread and see what you mean. Thinking they know everything about everything so not surprising they would jump in with knowing nothing about it and acting like they do.

Excellent OP, she~ Good finds to fit what you had to say about it.

I go because I need to.

I don't know where to start.

I grew up in a very open and tolerant family. No holds barred. At five I met the first gay couple that my family welcomed.

In my teens I was, in my inept way writing poetry. I wrote about AA and the division that existed. I still have that with me, my journal, I need to dig it out again. It is here somewhere. I have no clue how I got there other than my family's teachings.

Oh yes my grandmother on my dads side was a racist. I remember a dinner when she made some comments about his daughter not marrying a black man. My dad exploded and said he would prefer I marry a black man than any white trash man alive. Have to say that was one dinner to remember. I was so young at the time, yet it stuck with me. I knew what was right long before she said it to words, and yes I loved her yet she mad me cringe.

That's why I go Cha. I need to.

We all just need to open our eyes and see. We keep on fighting for all our rights, for AA and for women and for equal rights for all. It will never stop, that is why we need to be forever vigilant.

The combination of all the recent threads, the jury system's terrible impotence in the face of intolerance, and Skinner's rare taking aim at a member, and I think unheard of in a safe haven discussion about, one about racism no less, and to folow that with no response at all to an outright racist post about Asians (oh wait, i called a post racist --were 't we just told not to, here?).

In the last dust up, se lost many GLBT posters and allies, this time? How much less diverse will we get?

How does a liberal Democratic board manage to get whiter and straighter in a party that is more and more the opposite?
