No! I will not Stop it! ...
Just stop with this shit, alright? If you actually had any idea about this, you'd understand at least on a basic level, the problems I've discussed. And I might as well just come out and say it: I'll admit that my own knowledge may not be perfect in this regard. But neither is yours. And I don't know what it'll take for you to wake the fuck up: frankly, only you yourself have the answer to that, if anything.
But MY knowledge is based on the body of work of the social scientists; your "knowledge" is based on YOUR invented concept of what the social scientist REALLY mean when the talk about white privilege ... but can't seem to find any that support your interpretation.
You invent a term, then use that invented term to interpret what social scientists REALLY meant when they talk about white privilege; but can't find a single social scientist that has said anything approaching what you claim they mean.
What will "wake me the fuck up is you posting a link to a single social scientist that supports your made up interpretation of what social scientist REALLY when they talk about white privilege.
Well, on your suggestion I did find this, from the noted social scientist, Jared Taylor of white supremacy fame:
http://www.amren.com/features/2013/09/white-privilege/
http://theupsidedownworld.com/2012/05/25/the-real-reason-the-term-white-privilege-is-a-load-of-crap/
Funny ... I'm asking you to direct me to someone/anyone that has actually done some work on the subject, and supports your made up stuff. Not even the link that you posted from the conservative white woman that "gets it", despite her curiously absent educational credentials, unless you count that she's married to a Black man, supports your made up stuff!

(34,648 posts)I do not know what to make of this guy, TBH. IMHO, there is a startling lack of self awareness in that one. I did ask him to stop trolling race threads spewing right wing garbage, but i see no end in sight.
There are a few here that are much worse than he. Thats what worries me a bit.

(885 posts)Somewhere in his head he believes that his "wise beyond my years" 23, trumps the lifetime of experience of POC more than twice his age??
Even when confronted with information from the AUTHOR of the article he linked, that he is incorrect, he persists.

(31,828 posts)So a little pup who probably hasn't even tasted the real world of adults yet is going to try and school MEEEEEEEEEEE or 1strong or even a five year old black child on being black in America?

This is beyond hubris. Someone in the thread asked him if he had Asperger's as in "in other words, something is fucking wrong with you and I'm trying to figure out what it is."

(518 posts)Seems you two make DU suck. Glad I had a chance to hide that one.
Really though, I stand in awe of you all.

(53,661 posts)Breaking: Santorum discovers a new race - The Blah People!
That's right he didn't say he's trying to keep blacks from taking other people's money, he meant the BLAH people are trying to take their money!
http://www.clutchmagonline.com/2012/01/santorum-i-didnt-say-black-people-i-said-blah-people/comment-page-1/
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002125675#op
From the link:
A few days ago we reported that GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum put his foot in his mouth by saying I dont want to make black peoples lives better by giving them somebody elses money, and making a few other comments about how the welfare system does and should work (of course only the welfare for black people). Britni Danielle astutely pointed out that he paused before he said black people (or mmmblah people) And now, thats exactly what Santorum is claiming he didnt say black people, he said blah people. Because blah people are an actual thing, right?
Santorum defended his tongue-slip on FOX News Channels The OReilly Factor, saying:
I looked at that, and I didnt say that. If you look at it, what I started to say is a word and then sort of changed and it sort of blah came out. And people said I said black. I didnt. And I can tell you, I dont use I dont first off, I dont use the term black very often. I use the term African-American more than I use black I can tell you as someone who did more work for historically black colleges, I used to have every year, I used to bring all the historically black colleges into Washington, DC to try to help them, because they get very little federal money through the bureaucracy, and so I help to try to introduce them to people in the Department of Education so they could have more resources.
Wait, so now not only did he say blah people and not black people (because, again, thats an actual thing), but hes so politically progressive that he uses the term African-American instead of black? And he spends his time hooking HBCUs up with funding? Is any of this supposed to make him seem aware and non-racist or God-forbid a friend to the black community? And can he please explain what a blah person is?
All so very *concerned* and needing to teach others where *they* are wrong but vehemently dispute a word *they* dare to say.
Maybe such educators should be asked their view of The Blah People. After all, they can't talk back, as they don't exist. No one wants to hear from imaginary people. That would be a sign of poor mental health.
Now children do have *imaginary friends* and I'm wondering if teddy bears are involved here, because children speak for them however they choose. I can't imagine that this sweet little thing talking:
They're perfectly safe and can be put aside when one can't be bothered, and they never talk back.
The pitiful flailing about on those threads is like watching Ricky and his convoluted 'splaining all over again. The Déjà vu makes me wanna...

You might be right about the bears.
As I said to him a while ago, the only thing left to hope for with him is that when he gets a little older and learns something, he will burn with shame at the way he behaved here.

(31,849 posts)My purpose for posting the original thread and continuing to engage in the discussion was not to educate the deniers; but rather to hold up a mirror to those introspective DUers that might consider, "Wow ... do I really look/sound like that? I certainly hope not! ... but I am arguing the same point."

(23,340 posts)We can't necessarily open the eyes of Average, and a few others, but we can, through the conversation, open the eyes of those who are open and haven't really thought about the topic.
