"Nothing worth serious study is lovable"

In the book "The Last Ranger" by Peter Heller, a character is reading Russian authors: Chekhov, Turgenev, Pushkin.

Another character asks why he loved them.

His response:

"I don't love them." "Nothing worth serious study is lovable".

Hmmm.....

Just no.

Loving something made me *more* inclined to study it with more seriousness. And despising something always does the opposite.

Think of it this way: MAGAts aren't lovable, so, by that character's standard, they are worth serious study. You really want to go there?

Me, I think that getting too close to stupid and disgusting makes people stupid and disgusting.

YMMV.
