Along with Gambit, he's always struck me as the most obviously focus-grouped character in the Marvel stable, a cynical effort to stack up the most marketable traits in order to maximize profit.

Samurai swords? Check.
Wolverine healing factor? Check.
Smart ass? Check.
Breaks fourth wall? Check.
"Edgy?" Check.

Still, the trailer looks pretty cool. We'll see if Fox can get its shit together and make a good comic book film. Recent evidence is inconclusive...

He's like Spiderman with adult jokes. And they give the writers the ability to mock a lot of what happens in the Marvel Universe.

That being said, he is clearly a cash cow and it is sometimes frustrating the way they overdo the mini-series at points.

It bugs me that he was so transparently engineered to rake in dollars. They threw a ton of characters at the wall, and he's the one who stuck.

I don't even mind the 4th wall stuff. Ambush Bug did it as a primary schtick years ago, as did Byrne's She-Hulk, many characters have done it in a more limited fashion as well.

It's one of those YMMV things, I guess.
