Once Upon a Time in 1628

Last edited Sat Mar 17, 2012, 02:26 AM - Edit history (11)

"Once upon a time I believed all kinds of things.
I believed in horses with horny horns
and even in horses with magnificent wings!
I thought at the very bottom of the garden
fairies giggled and would dance and play.
I thought that under every small bridge there lived a troll
and, when on my own, I most assuredly stayed well away.
It never occurred to me then, way back in 1628
that a fairy collecting teeth was a most curious beast.
The Sandman, Father Christmas, dragons and elves,
these now seem just as implausibly impossible at least.
I no longer believe in transmogrifying frogs
or that princes can only exist in threes.
The very idea of Rumplestiltskin just makes me howl.
I now know better than to believe in any of these.
But there is one thing that I believed in then
that even, no especially, today I still believe is true.
There are some who would say "It is just a fairytale"
but I really do believe in happy ever after without you."

Trolls are alive and well on internet today. Maybe everything is in some way or other.

Maybe that was the point of them in the first place - allegories for humans and our situations.

Ie. The current state of things:

An evil queen stole an election
A fair and good prince was nearly 80 and has to fight the dragon blocking everyone from passing over the bridge to get medicare for all
A troll who was a land baron threatens to start disallowing whole races to pass under and over the bridge.
Faerys fly in and out who try to stop things by informing people.
some of the population has had an evil spell of blindness cast over them
Maybe the show once upon a time actually is now and the world.
