Robber 'not the type that would do this'

Elderly woman tells police clean-cut man who robbed her Fayette home is 'not the type that would do this'

A male robber -- described by his 88-year-old female victim as good-looking and clean-cut -- made off with $100 in cash from the woman's Fayette County home this week.

She told state police that her unknown assailant was "not the type that would do this."

State police said the man broke into the Bullskin Township home sometime between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman’s name has not been released.

Police described in a statement a series of failed attempts by the robber to enter the home, noting "It is assumed the (robber) did not know that the victim was inside of the residence."

Police said the robber attempted to get in through the front door and the garage "with no luck." Then, according to a statement the victim gave police, the robber attempted to get in the front door and garage "for around 30 minutes." At that point, the elderly woman heard a loud noise in the back bedroom. The man had pushed in a window air conditioner and had gotten inside.

The man and the woman confronted each other in the living room where the man grabbed the woman by the arm and demanded money. She gave him $100 out of her purse. And he fled.

The woman described the man as white, in his early 20s, attractive, clean and "not the type that would do this."

He is described as thin, standing about 5 feet 4 inches and weighing about 130 pounds. He has straight blonde hair that extended past a ball cap he was wearing. He had no facial hair, scars or marks and was wearing jeans.
