Making a Murderer detective sues Netflix for defamation

18 December 2018

A retired detective has sued Netflix and the filmmakers of hit series Making a Murderer for defamation.

Andrew Colborn alleges the documentary series suggested he planted evidence to frame murder suspect, Steven Avery.

His lawyer, Michael Griesbach, says his client has been subjected to "worldwide ridicule, contempt, and disdain" since the show's 2015 debut.

The BBC has contacted Netflix for a comment. The case was filed in Manitowoc County in Wisconsin.

The producers have admitted to leaving out details to further their case. It is designed, specifically, to manipulate the viewer and outrage then. Just like they did with Blackfish.

And it would make you think twice about being alone with Steven Avery even before he was sent to jail.

The man was bad even before the false imprisonment. No one should go to jail for something they didn't do but Avery sure had violent and perverse tendencies that would make you suspect him.
