Related: About this forumWhen was the last time the Yanks played a postseason game without Jeter in the lineup?
Secondarily... does anyone think that at 39 he'll come back to play shortstop after breaking his ankle? Is there any medical information about the break such as which bone and how bad?

(16,113 posts)2. He wasn't that good of a defensive shortstop to begin with,
and how he has not 1 but 5 Golden Glove awards is as big an indictment of the GG process as Palmiero's win for first base despite only playing 28 games there all season. I don't see how he's going to come back and play very much SS at 39.

(17,087 posts)3. I just heard it wasn't considered a big deal.
The break, that is. Should heal fine - just needs some time. As for how much time Jeter has, and whether he wants to continue, well, that remains to be seen. I'd probably call it a day, if it were me.
I'd want 4,000 hits.
