Wichita State!!!

Wow. What a GREAT game!!!

Wichita has a newly elected tea party senator. One of the first bills he filed was to make Wichita State play Kansas every year in basketball. That still makes the top of my dumb bills list but I understand why he filed it now. This is a very good basketball team.

I've only been following the Zags since 2002 and they always disappoint, I had them losing the first round, thats how much faith I had in them(none).

However, Wichita State has had a solid team the past couple of season. They were out in the first round last year only because they were matched up with a solid mid-major opponent. They are as good as Creighton as both teams played 3 close games.

and I didn't think that they were that good. They certainly could not play against the Big 10 who I think is the best. Gonzaga nees to p[lay better competition during the season.

Gonzaga would be no more than a middle of the pack team in the Big Ten. There are at least five better teams than Gonzaga; Michigan State, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin at the very least. Illinois beat them in Spokane earlier in the season and Minnesota does quite well outside the conference. And the Hawkeyes are an up and coming team that nobody wants to play. So maybe even eight teams in the Big Ten are as good as, or better than Gonzaga.

Wichita State who are the probably the second best team behind Creighton in the Missouri Valley Conference, a conference that ranks only higher by 1 than the West Coast Conference who has Gonzaga & St. Mary's. I research college basketball teams because I pick them from November to now. I picked a lot of Wichita State games the past 2 years, they've got a great, up and coming program. They defeated Pittsburgh who lost in narrow games to tough competition. 4-points to Michigan, 3-points to Louisville, Marquette in OT.

Gonzaga was 12-2(they would be 12-3 if they continued keeping track throughout the tournament) against RPI top 100. That is a better record than a lot of top 10 teams. To insult Gonzaga for not being good enough because they play in #10 conference, the second place team of the #9 conference is in the Sweet 16. The Shockers could have been a sweet 16 team last year but they were matched up against another Boise State(VCU) in the first round.

Wichita State, Florida Gulf Coast, La Salle, Creighton, and to a lesser extent Florida & Mississippi which makes up 6 of the remaining 20 teams left in the country. I felt like mentioning San Diego State but they play in the 6th toughest conference--only just behind the Pac-12(who has a very weak non-conference schedule overall)--which is ironically the same conference Boise State plays in.

Gonzaga played a tough non-conference schedule, St. Mary's isn't a cupcake, they are 12-3 against top 100 teams. More importantly Olynyk and Harris are great players. College basketball is deep with talented schools, they lost to a great Wichita State who is the #2 team in the 9th toughest conference. It isn't like college football, Wichita State defeated VCU, Iowa, Creighton, and now Gonzaga and Pittsburgh. Gonzaga lost to a great team.

I followed them closely for 2 seasons. They defeated Iowa, VCU, Creighton, Pittsburgh, and Gonzaga. They are also one of last 16 teams remaining. They are 55-14 in the past 2 years. I make college basketball picks all the time, I'm 22-7 this month in college basketball picks, I know what I'm talking about.

They dropped down (as well as seeding I'm sure) when they lost 3 out of their last 5 games of the regular season. They defeated 5 (current)top 30 teams which is why I claim they're a great or at the very least a very good team. They're one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, have size, and as they showed Gonzaga, effective 3-point shooters.
