I doubt Brooklyn will be able to support the Islanders the way Long Island fans have.

Game 6 vs. the Penguins just ended. I watched a good amount of this series. Islanders fans were very vocal and passionate about their support. It's a real shame that they're moving. One of the contributing factors to their need to move is Republicans Kate Murray and Ed Mangano mismanaging the processes that would have kept them at their current home (in a new arena).

Totally dominated tonight but just kept missing the empty nets. It sucks that you have to play (arguably) the best team as well as the officials but that's how it goes. You have to earn the right to the calls or non-calls, the latter of which killed us tonight.

Still though, I was very encouraged by the play in this series. The Isles really acquitted themselves well and they're going to be around for a long time.

As far as support in Brooklyn, I don't know. I think a lot of the fan base will still be there, it's an easy commute. I certainly will be able to go to more games. I can get there by train really easy from Philly. And this franchise is back and they're about to start a run that will culminate in a Stanley Cup championship in the next few years. Fans always come out for a winner.

Losing the coliseum is going to hurt the advantage. That old barn is LOUD. Other than that I think they'll be fine.

Long Island University is there, for instance. Then there's Long Island City, in Queens.

The Barclays Center is right next to the Brooklyn station on the "Wrong Island Fail Road". It's actually easier to reach on transit than the Coliseum, where I went once for a Dead show.
