You might recall several weeks back that our hero Bud Selig tried to force the matter of the Athletics move from Oakland by "helping" them (financially) play temporarily across the bay in San Francisco at the Giants' AT&T Park while "plans" for a new park could be realized. It was really a back-end move to start wheels rolling on the A's relocation for who-knows-where.
Last week that plan was thwarted when the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority agreed to a two-year contract with the A's. Okay -- it's not great, but it does keep them in Oakland through 2015.
Selig retires soon, and you can bet old Bud will leave with the issue of the Giant's San Jose territorial rights / A's new stadium still unresolved.
Raider fans are guaranteed another year too. But as the link suggets, they'll probably extend the lease after 2014 since there's no other venue in which play in the Bay Area except the 49ers new Santa Clara facility.
