2nd place 2014 Olympic Ice Dancers felt unsupported by coach who also coaches U.S. rivals (1st place 2014 Olympic Ice Dancers)
A day after the Canadian ice dancers...Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir...won Olympic silver behind Americans Meryl Davis and Charlie White, who are also coached by Marina Zoueva...(they)...lamented the coachs split allegiances...
Moir said...We were both pretty blunt with her in the fall and even leading up to the Olympics that we werent happy and we felt that sometimes she wasnt in our corner...in no way were we going to be happy with a silver medal...She cant win no matter what -- well, she does win no matter what kind of, Moir added, laughing...
Zoueva didnt accompany Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir to the Canadian championships this season, attending the U.S. nationals held over the same week instead. The coach didnt march with Canada in the opening ceremonies of the Sochi Olympics, marching with the U.S. team instead...
Virtue...and Moir...edged the Americans for gold in Vancouver and then went on to win the 2010 and 2012 world championships. But results started tipping in the Americans favour and Virtue and Moir said they could sense early on this season that there had been a shift in momentum. The judges, it seemed, preferred the Americans over them...

Newflash, Virtue and Moir -- Davis and White are now BETTER than you! If they had questioned the loyalty of your coach or the "preference" of the judges when you won YOUR Olympic gold, you would have called them whiny crybabies and laughed them off the podium! And if you're that unhappy with your coaching situation, either tell her to make a choice or replace her yourselves -- simple!!!

(78,249 posts)1. Um, "Tessa Virtue" sounds like an Anglophone name
believe it or not, even some educated Anglophone Canadians do not speak French. I learned this at a disabilities conference in Honolulu, where my lunchmates were two delightful young women from Edmonton, one of whom has Down syndrome. I asked her if she had been given the opportunity to learn French, at which point her nondisabled sister floored me by revealing that she never learned French, either.

Sounds like sour grapes.
Be happy with a GOLD and SILVER (not sure if they won any other Olympic medals during their career). Many are not as unfortunate to even win one.
