Spurs' Success: Maybe a few socialistic principles at work?

First of all, my big congratulations to the Spurs and my fellow fans. I still have my 1999 championship t-shirt!

This team works well because they don't rely solely on the talents of just a couple of players. The players are told to check their egos at the door before stepping onto the court. They share the ball, waiting for the best shot to open. That's one of the reasons they win. The newest team members can see that there are no "divas"; if Ginobli, e.g., screws up, Coach Popovich will lay into him as if he was a rookie.

I don't understand the details of salary caps, but my understanding is the the highest paid members of the team don't take home in salary what they would at another team. They have given up some of the excess so that other talent on the team will be satisfied and remain there to help build a cooperative team.

This team is also very international. At least eight of the fifteen players are from outside the US: 2 from Australia, 2 from France, 1 each from Italy, Argentina, Brazil, and Canada. In fact, cooperation has been necessary just in communicating with one another.

Cooperation in a team. Wow. If only Congress understood that.

only the "producers' should make money. The others need to suck it up. just ask Rand Paul.

It's a TEAM sport...they play well together...they trust one another...they're not bouncing from city to city like some players.

- a team that also excelled at passing, assists, and a cooperative style of play. Even with several superstars on the team (their starting 5 are all in the Hall of Fame), they checked their egos at the door and played with and for each other.

The selfless teamwork of the Spurs was a joy to watch in this series. Immediately after the Heat had been humiliated with three straight blow-outs, the talk about getting a better "supporting cast" for god-man Lebron James started up. Blecch. I hope to see more teams emulate the Spurs' formula instead.

Being near the top in play to being 3rd or 4th on his team, if my husband had the correct information. Tim gave up salary to better his team.

I wasn't a Knicks fan, but I remember the Knicks from way-back. They played awesome round ball.

the whole NBA is like that. The team they just beat is an example of players taking a whole lot less money than they could. You'll find Lebron on top of every underpaid player list there is.
