Rockets offer free agent Chris Bosh four-year, $88 million max deal

The Houston Rockets have offered free agent forward Chris Bosh a four-year maximum contract worth $88 million, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

The 6-foot-11, 235-pound Bosh opted out of his contract last month to become an unrestricted free agent. Broussard reports that Bosh is considering the offer after talking with free agent forward LeBron James -- whose agent, Rich Paul, is reportedly pushing James to return to Cleveland -- over the weekend. James and Paul are scheduled to meet with Heat president Pat Riley some time this week.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported Monday that Bosh wants to continue playing with James in Miami but that Bosh's camp is in discussion with the Rockets. ESPN's Marc Stein reported last week that the Rockets would pursue Bosh as a Plan B in the event they failed to land free agent forward Carmelo Anthony. Anthony is expected to make a decision soon.

Bosh averaged 16.2 points and 6.6 rebounds for the Heat last season. Houston won 54 games and secured the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference playoffs before falling in the first round to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Hmmm. Sounds like the Heat fans are going to be really quiet next year.
