TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A Florida State social media campaign turned ugly Sunday when the university's athletic department opened its Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback to nationwide mockery.
The department attempted to engage fans on Twitter by soliciting questions to be used for a video on the team website.
The hashtag "#AskJameis" became a trending topic on Twitter for a time Sunday -- for all the wrong reasons.
The Twitter feed was bombarded by accounts making fun of Jameis Winston and taking shots at the sophomore. Winston has been heavily criticized for multiple off-field incidents during his time at Florida State.

(9,350 posts)You would think that with the problems everyone else has had groups would stop doing this. It seems obvious that if you ask a question on twitter all the people who do not like you will have an opportunity to answer the question, or ask the question they want to ask. Do some people, or groups not know that there are people in the world who are not very fond of them?

(42,998 posts)Getting their asses kicked on twitter-- the #askJenny beat down of that anti vaxx twit Jenny McCarthy was hilarious. It's amazing how stupid and unaware some celebs/athletes are. I am drooling at the idea of Ray Rice doing a twitter chat....
