Arizona Cardinals believe Carson Palmer has torn ACL

Carson Palmer suffered a left knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game versus the St. Louis Rams. NFL Media's Albert Breer reported that the team believes the quarterback has torn his left ACL, which would end his season pending tests to confirm the news, per a source briefed on the injury.

Terrible news. Cardinals are off to their best start in, what, 40 years? Yeah -- I'm a Niners fan ... but I still hope it isn't as bad as a torn ACL.

Drew Stanton has proven capable, but Palmer's experience would help in the playoffs.

1948 & 1925.

The only flaw I can find with Stanton is his throws are off more than I'd like. The thing that is clear to me is that he makes the right decisions on where to go with the ball, its just either overthrown or a little off. It isn't like he is making the wrong reads. He seems to know the offense very well.

Palmer struggled on most drives in the Rams game (on others he was on fire) and Stanton threw a 48-yard bomb to John Brown on his first drive. He can do that the whole game, the thing that prevents it is accuracy rather than bad reads. I do see a tendency for him to get boxed in by the increasing pressure when the home runs don't quite connect (Stanton to Floyd on deep 50/50 balls against the Giants) in the first half but situation affects QB stats more than most things though I think Palmer would do a better job of shaking things off though he is more accurate (he had the opposite problem early in Arians offense).
