I am sorry to announce that I cannot play the finals tonight vs. Novak. I hurt my back late in the match yesterday against Stan. I am very disappointed and I hope to be feeling better soon.

It’s been an extremely difficult decision because I love playing in London and the ATP World Tour Finals have been an absolute highlight of my career. Unfortunately, my back problem does not allow me to play right now. I hope all tennis fans and those involved in the event will understand.


I hope he has a nice break with his family & hopefully will see him back in action in January.

That's something the Swiss have never won...hope he gets better and they win.

emotional type. I remember he left his wife and new baby at one point to focus on tennis but they have since reconciled.

Hopefully Federer can get some practice in this week and have a good performance for the Davis Cup. And then time away with his family. I'd love to see one more year from him (2015 will mark 20 years in the sport for him going by the timeline on his own website).

So I'm willing to bet there's nothing to them.

That stinks. Feel better. You have plenty of time to recover for next season.
Would have been nice to see them play the final, but injuries happen.
