Related: About this forumThe 4 Major American Sports Teams No One Wants to Watch
http://wallstcheatsheet.com/sports/the-4-major-american-sports-teams-no-one-wants-to-watch.html/One of the most persistent nightmares across all sports, regardless of country or game, is the fear of hosting an event and having no one show up. During the home opener of the Florida Panthers 2014 NHL season, that nightmare was realized, as only 7,311 people showed up to watch, reports ESPN. This is, needless to say, very, low attendance, even for the NHL, which is often counted as the last among equals of major American sports. Is it simply because the Panthers are bad?
Perhaps. The Panthers did make an appearance on our chronicle of the worst NHL teams in league history, but they werent even in the bottom five for attendance last year. It would be easy (and lazy) to say, Well, if they had a better team, people would show up, or, If they played somewhere cold, people would show up. Both of those statements, by the way, are more true than false, but they dont totally explain why the Panthers are hurt by poor attendance while, say, the Carolina Hurricanes are not.
No, instead, were going around to look at which teams make up the lowest attendance records across the major sports in the United States: the NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL (and its not the Panthers). Using attendance data gathered from ESPN, weve taken the averages from each teams home games, found the least attended, and present them here. Spoiler alert: Were not presenting them in order of crowd size, since the NFL just crushes everyone when it comes to live attendance, to the surprise of no one.

(7,429 posts)1. The Rays are the worst Florida Team
Never mind that the owners don't care, the people don't care either. The stadium is nowhere near the younger crowd (and that's saying a lot for Tampa). It's horrible to get to it. The traffic stinks over there. There is always construction on or near the park's area. At least the Marlin's stadium is newer and it is easier to get to.
Now I can't believe the Panthers aren't on this list. Horrible Management and Ownership has doomed that franchise . . .

It's like a home game...more Red Sox fans than Rays' fans.
