Todd Bowles to be Jets' coach
NEW YORK -- Completing a franchise overhaul in one day, the New York Jets landed former Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as their new head coach Tuesday night -- less than four hours after they announced the hiring of Mike Maccagnan as general manager.
Bowles told ESPN's Josina Anderson in a text message that he was accepting the Jets' offer. The final details will be hammered out Wednesday morning, but Bowles is expected to sign a four-year contract that will pay him slightly more than $4 million per year, sources told ESPN.
For his offensive coordinator, Bowles is targeting Chan Gailey, sources said. Gailey has been out of the NFL since 2012, when he was fired as the Buffalo Bills' coach.
Concerned about losing Bowles to the Atlanta Falcons, the Jets moved swiftly, inviting him back for a second interview Tuesday and reaching an agreement over dinner. He met with Maccagnan, owner Woody Johnson and other team officials. Bowles was scheduled to leave Wednesday for a second meeting with the Falcons.

Sounds like the Jets were almost desperate to hire him. I don't know much about him or why teams are interested in him for head coach. I hope they don't overrate his defenses at Arizona since they were great 8 games into Ray Horton's 1st season in Arizona who ran a LeBeau defense. However, Bowles' defense helps the D-line make plays which is perfect when the Jets best player is Sheldon Richardson.
Also the Jets recently hired a DL coach to be defensive coordinator as well so the Jets appear to be heading to a specific direction, I'd just say expect an underachieving secondary from time-to-time.
