(29,322 posts)The game is a bit different, more passing because of the larger field and 3 downs among other things such as the rules are more loose -- more open. Ricky Williams said he loved it because they let him go out there and do anything rather than a specific job & tasks, he said they let him block out there -- loved blocking. I loved his sense of what is important in life, he could have been that stat machine but felt being able to enjoy life was more important and I get where he was coming from. It can get too much, you have to make it through the abusive leaders in the NCAA just for a shot and a lot just end up quitting.
Anyway, I'm sure this is welcome news. It is incredible difficult to make it just on a practice squad in the NFL that I'm not sure a lot of people appreciate it. I remember 4th & Long with Michael Irvin to "find Jerry Jones a football player" they were all really good from the eye test, the guy cut early was simply because he was injured scoring a touchdown. Jesse Holley was the one who made it looking like Randy Moss won the final cut over Andrew Hawkins (he also played for Montreal too) who actually became somewhat of a star last season.
On Michael Sam, don't know much about his skill-set, I hear two small to be a Dline, not big or fast to be a linebacker but its really hard to jump out of hundreds who have worked as hard and appear roughly as good. Just need an opportunity so the journey be be back or he may end up preferring the CFL. With the pass happy league he could shine given that finesse is preferred.

(21,809 posts)I kept saying that if the NFL doesn't want him, he should go north to the CFL, since the Montreal franchise had already put an offer on the table last year. Fuck the NFL and Roger Goodell.
