And then I saw yours, so I decided to chime in here.

Yes, there is cruelty in horse racing; I don't think anyone can dispute this.

What I want to know is: Where are these bleeding hearts every weekend?

Horse racing goes on every weekend, but we don't hear about cruelty to horses until there's a major race that brings the issue to everyone's attention.

It almost smacks of hypocrisy to me.

Horses love to run, and they live to run.

There are many good people in the sport- I've met them. Heck I've ridden a very nice rescued retired race horse. But like everything else there are bad people who give the industry a bad name.

some racehorses are better cared for than many peoples' children ... and then other owners are terrible. Wide variance.
