Related: About this forumPatriots release LB Brandon Spikes after his car found abandoned
USA Today: The New England Patriots released Brandon Spikes on Monday morning as Massachusetts State Police investigate an accident involving a vehicle registered to the linebacker.
...(P)olice said they found a Mercedes Maybach abandoned in a median on Interstate-495 near Foxborough, Mass., near the Patriots' facilities early Sunday morning. The car had front-end damage, and a representative from the OnStar navigation system told officers the driver had reported hitting a deer. No deer was found at the scene, police said.
Shortly after responding to the report of the abandoned Maybach at 3:30 a.m. ET, police were also called by the occupants of a Nissan Murano, who reported they had been rear-ended by an unknown vehicle in the same area of I-495 Sunday. The three occupants of that car...(including) a 12-year-old boy, were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Police said that "no connection has yet been established" between the two incidents, but that the investigation is ongoing. Officers have not yet determined who was driving the Maybach.

Making a "connection" between the two incidents is as simple as comparing paint chips.
Well, New England DU-ers -- is "Interstate-495 near Foxborough, Mass., near the Patriots' facilities" deer territory this time of year, or is it not?

It's almost funny to watch how some of these guys just utterly self-destruct and can't handle the life, but it's sad at the same time.

TMZ:Spikes has been ordered to pay more than $2k in fines and his driver's license has been suspended for one year.
...Cops found Brandon's expensive Maybach on the side of the interstate in Foxboro, Mass. on June 7...(He) said he hit a deer, but (had) he smashed into the back of an SUV, leaving 3 people with minor injuries, including a 12-year-old girl.
Spikes was initially charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, negligent driving, speeding and failure to stay in his lane. But he struck a plea deal, and got probation for one year. His driver's license was suspended and he's been ordered to complete a safe driving course.
Well, now that it's officially over, maybe another NFL team will consider picking him up...
