Cuban calls NBA players in Olympics “epitome of stupidity”

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/24/cuban-calls-nba-players-in-olympics-epitome-of-stupidity/related/

“It’s just the epitome of stupidity that we would allow ourselves to be used so other corporations” — as Cuban calls the Olympics — “can make tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars,” Cuban said. “There’s some guys sitting at the Olympic headquarters going, ‘Those dumb-asses, we’re taking all their best guys for nothing.’ “

Cuban knows he’s unlikely to bring change to the system, but he said he will continue “fighting so that we’ll pull out.”

Also those guys at the headquarters are congratulating themselves for having host cities more than willing to fund the costs of hosting them.

I may have said it differently than him but I think he is on point.

Edit-It isn't so much the pulling NBA players out--author points out players can do what they want, it is his other critiques.

Cuban can sometimes be an idiot.

Gazillionaires playing for their country and he's bitching because they're not getting paid.

And competition is part of the fabric of humanity. It is a privilege to represent your country in the Olympics. Just ask the players.

Not one host country did it thinking they were going to lose money. Some did, some made tons. So, i'm not sure you're reading this Cuban comment correctly. He's not talking about the players doing it for profit, he's complaining about the Olympics making a profit by having true professionals come in to slaughter much lesser talent.

He's not complaining about NOT making a profit.
