Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who believes God spoke to him during a football game and talks often about his abstinence with his girlfriend Ciara, claims Reliant Recovery Water helps him prevent concussions. Wilson is invested in the company that sells the $3 water.
Well, were not saying we have real medical proof, Wilson said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews delivered a hit that banged Wilsons head, he said.

(9,527 posts)Local sports cheater Tom Brady has tried to sell a similar snake oil. The FDA should be fining these companies out of business.
It's dangerous and stupid to be passing this garbage off as legitimate.

(9,350 posts)My first thought is that both Russell Wilson and Tom Brady do not believe in the things they are selling. How many athletes sell things they do not even take? It seems that a number of these guys and other celebrities are willing to promote anything for the right amount of money. I think there was a report a few years ago that said a number of actors and actresses were promoting prescription drugs they did not take. I would not be surprised to find the same is true with a number of professional athletes.

(9,527 posts)But in any case, athlete or other celebrity endorser, it's really not okay to be passing shit like this off. It's dangerous as drinking overpriced water is not a valid way to treat or prevent a concussion. Passing that lie around will get somebody hurt. They are putting this horseshit out for their own financial gain, either as a paid endorser or as an investor.
Everyone involved in this sort of garbage needs to face legal and civil sanctions.
