Vandals strike TCU with ‘61-58’ in green paint; Bears, Frogs ADs issue vandalism statement
After both schools campuses were hit by acts of vandalism, Baylor and TCU athletics directors Ian McCaw and Chris Del Conte issued a joint statement Friday.
Baylors statue of Robert Griffin III outside McLane Stadium was discovered spray painted purple Thursday, TCUs primary school color. Then Friday photos emerged of 61-58 painted in green on a wall on TCUs campus. That was the score of last years Baylor-TCU game, won by the Bears.
McCaw and Del Conte condemned the acts in their statement.
Baylor and TCU are two outstanding universities who have great respect for one another, academically and athletically, and it is most disappointing that the actions of a few cast a negative light on a rivalry that dates back more than a century, McCaw said in the release. Public safety officials on both campuses are investigating these senseless acts of vandalism and unacceptable behavior.
