It's bad enough that St. Louis Rams quarterback Case Keenum was stumbling around on the football field with what everyone on TV could plainly see was a probable concussion. The really bad part is that nobody thought to stop the game to evaluate him.
With a little more than a minute to go against the Baltimore Ravens, Keenums head hit hard on the turf when he was sacked. He grabbed his head immediately. Rams lineman Garrett Reynolds tried to help Keenum up, but Keenum went down again and was on all fours for a few seconds. He was in obvious distress.
Keenums teammates on the St. Louis Rams didnt do anything. The coaching staff didnt try to see if he was OK someone did, however, put in the effort to have Nick Foles warm up in case Keenum had to come out. Priorities. The NFL has spotters in the press box whose jobs are to look out for players with concussions, and this year a new rule was made that they could buzz down to the officials and stop the game if they thought someone had a concussion. The game never stopped.

(17,086 posts)It seemed like everyone, including Foles, knew there was a problem but the people that were supposed to get Keenum off the field. The NFL is going to have to address this.

(17,086 posts)I think this is the first season with this new protocol, isn't it? I don't have much faith in the NFL's review process but I think we should wait for some response at least.

(16,113 posts)It is about 25 degrees at Gillette Stadium tonight. Even balls that were inflated to the maximum allowable PSI are now below the minimum allowable PSI due to the temperature change.
At halftime they start with footballs that were sitting in the refs locker room for the first half, so they'll be up to pressure for a little while to start the second half, at least.
