QB Kyle Allen to transfer immediately from Texas A&M
COLLEGE STATION In a surprising move that has stunned Texas A&M fans, the university announced on Thursday night that sophomore quarterback Kyle Allen will transfer. Hes been granted his release and will leave immediately, according to A&M.
Allen also posted on his Twitter account on Thursday night, Texas A&M University is a place unlike any other, and I wish things would have worked out here. But at some points in life, people have to do whats best for them. Its with a heavy heart that I say I am transferring from Texas A&M.
He didnt say where. Allen has started most of A&Ms games this season, including the last two after losing the starting job to freshman Kyler Murray for three games midseason. Murray intends to play baseball for the Aggies this spring, leaving the Aggies uncomfortably shy of scholarship quarterbacks heading into offseason drills (only current sophomore Jake Hubenak at this point).
A&M (8-4) faces Louisville (7-5) on Dec. 30 in the Music City Bowl in Nashville. The job likely will be Murrays against the Cardinals, although Hubenak might earn his share of playing time as well. Allen was the top-rated quarterback in the class of 2014 and a five-star prospect out of Arizona.
