Oakland (or L.A.) Raiders will be a force next year and years to come

Barring disastrous injuries, the pieces are in place for years of dominance over the AFC West and probably in the playoffs. Derek Carr, Latavius Murray and Amari Cooper learn with every game. Khalil Mack and Mario Edwards are starting to lead the defense. The coaching staff is solid as is the front office. This should be attractive to free agents next year who can fill in the missing pieces and/or add roster depth. I like what I'm seeing.

Bob Iger has bolstered the Oakland Raiders' and San Diego Chargers' Los Angeles relocation bid, but The Walt Disney Co. CEO's recent comments about how he came to lead their joint stadium effort may provide legal ammunition for their top rival -- if he wants it.

During a media event Thursday, Iger revealed that he was recruited for the $1.7 billion stadium bid in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson by Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, who also sits on the NFL's powerful six-member Committee on Los Angeles Opportunities....

Richardson has publicly backed the Carson project, but his role in bringing aboard Iger might have legal repercussions if it prevails.

&quot Kroenke) could have a breach of contract claim," said David Levine, a professor at UC Hastings College of the Law. "He could say that he has been economically hurt because of decisions made as a result of this unfair practice."

Either incarnation of the team. The Curse of Paul Brown. Nothing since the 50's and then had no luck with the Bungles.

But then again, as my wife says, it's fucking Ohio...

Division VI. Second state championship in three years. They overcame a 13-0 deficit at halftime to win.

Fucking Ohio indeed ...

I'm a Cub fan. Don't talk to me about curses!

Your curse is now about 1/4th the length of our curse. Get back to my when you hit a century, Tru.

BTW: you ruffled some feathers in that DI thread yesterday.

i'm not saying the raiders didn't come out to play in the second half (and, oh boy, it hurts to say that), but it was just as much a denver loss as it was an oakland win.

i'm still salty about it.

angry and drained after their losses, but I didn't feel so bad today even though they got eliminated from contention. I didn't expect them to beat the Packers, but I also didn't expect the game to be as close as it was. In fact, this whole season was arguably a success in spite of the frustrating losses and missing the playoffs again. I'm usually not a fan of saying "we'll get 'em next year", but this team has me excited to see what's in store next year. They doubled their win total from last year, they have a 1K yard receiver and a 3K yard QB, and are just a few defensive pieces (and maybe a new kicker) away from an AFCW title.
It would be a shame to see them move out of town just as they're starting to become decent again. I have optimism that they'll stay, though, seeing as how Mark Davis was the one owner out of him, Spanos, and Kroenke to attend local townhall meetings earlier, and how the NFL floated the idea of helping to pay for a new stadium here.
