Jaromir Jagr takes stick to face, loses teeth in Panthers' win

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Aleksander Barkov scored the winning goal in a shootout -- but it was a suddenly toothless Jaromir Jagr who stole the headlines in the Florida Panthers' 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

The Panthers won their fifth straight game on a night when Jagr had an assist before leaving the game after losing four teeth because of a stick to the face.

Jagr bled profusely from his mouth after he was hit by Alex Chiasson's stick midway through the first period.

"I lost some teeth, but I increased my speed as you can see it on the breakaway,'' Jagr joked.

He tweeted a photo of his gap-toothed mouth after the game, saying: "Dear Santa, can I get a new teeth for Christmas it's going to be tough to eat-good -at least I don't get fat )."

Two things here:
1 - Hockey!

2 - Jagr is 43 years old. I think I was playing him on NHL '95. On Nintendo.

. . .how would having a small cage, like lacrosse players, negatively impact a hockey player's effectiveness?

Seems stupid that they all haven't chosen to protect their mouths.

I had a dentist once in South Jersey who had a dream to be the Flyer's team dentist.
