http://www.sfgate.com/athletics/article/As-had-to-fly-home-in-an-SF-Giants-branded-plane-7241166.phpFresh off a sweep of the Seattle Mariners, the A's were pumped to get home to Oakland. And then they saw the plane they were flying home in:
The Giants have a partnership with Virgin America, which includes some specially branded planes. A few recent World Series titles and a shiny, pretty stadium do tend to lead to fancy sponsorships.
At least the A's can console themselves with this fact: Right now, they're atop the AL West.

(559 posts)These guys deserve better. Hope this motivates them this year. Unfortunately, they're 4-5 so it ain't good right now.

Reddick tweeted a picture of the plane, with a Giants logo, and heard back from not-too-thrilled As fans. Its believed a few folks in the front office werent pleased, either.
Everyones anti-Giants when youre rooting for the green and gold, Reddick said. But thats what fans need to understand. Were not going to be mad about that. Fans make the rivalry a lot more than the players do. You dont see us going out there and clearing benches with these guys every time were playing. Yeah, the games mean more because of the rivalry that has been created here. But were not going to make a big deal over something like that.
Fact is, the Giants fly on a nice plane. Mostly first-class seats from front to rear. Just not as nice, Reddick and other As said, as the plane the As generally use the Dallas Mavericks plane, which wasnt available Sunday. Thus, Eastern Airlines had the As use the one chartered by the Giants, who wouldnt need it until flying to Denver Monday.

(10,893 posts)be tough to be an A's fan these days and put up with the foolishness from Wolff and Fisher. These are 2 of the sorriest owners around. They've constantly threatened to leave Oakland, they won't spend to maintain a consistently competitive squad, and they won't even get their own plane. They've turned a once-proud franchise into an afterthought.
