I just don't understand the arrogance of her and her team.

(56,177 posts)like some other use, because as you said, it does seem harsh if she simply had taken it inadvertently, and even if intentional, it's only the first offense...or is it?

(16,113 posts)Could avoid bans, but the punishment is in the ITF's hands, not WADA. The 2 years is a death sentence for her singles career at 29, though I'd be surprised if this wasn't reduced on appeal. I'll bet they figure out a way to get her into the olympics this summer, though.

The five-time Grand Slam winner said she "cannot accept" the "unfairly harsh" ban - and will appeal.
Sharapova will now challenge the suspension, which is backdated to 26 January 2016, at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas)
