He was amazing last night and he's gotten better as of late

But in June he was hitting .191 - yeah not really All Star worthy

Dude won player of the week the week before the All-Star game. I think he's out of the slump.

. . .than the first two months combined, or something like that?

He swings so hard, i don't see him ever being a high average guy, but he sure can be dangerous, and when he hits one 480, can demoralize the opponent.

In the finals, the fifth-seeded Stanton blasted 20 home runs -- giving him 61 total in three rounds -- as he topped defending champion Todd Frazier of the White Sox, 20-13. Not only did Stanton bring the crowd to its feet with his massive home runs, he also reset Statcast™ home run highs for distance (497 feet) and exit velocity (120.4 mph).

Cookies? So what. This is still pretty impressive.

Just love this guy

He came here to the station last year and I swear he looked like a male model. His face, his body - my goodness that was a thing of beauty.

What was I talking about again??

...take away from the game. 'Entertainment for the rubes' but in this day and age, a massive money-making scheme to further exploit some talented players. You don't see the best hitters, the guys that can hit something other than the long ball, cookie or not. You get up and comers that disappear when they stop getting "cookies" to hit.

Or you get the few hitters that year after year can knock a few out of the park. Boring!
Last time I watched was when Joey Batts competed and that was just to make sure he didn't get caught up in the BS of it all. He didn't.

I don't give a crap about the home run hitting contest, but to hit a ball 497 feet with an exit velocity of 120 mph off a 'cookie" pitch is damned impressive.
