And I don't mean the coup against lefty president Dilma Rousseff, although it does involve women being forcibly removed from power.

Thankfully, the ex-DUer and her son who trace their ancestry to that frozen meatball-, pancake- and DIY furniture-ridden hellhole have yet to be heard from, so unlike the failure in the 2010 World Cup, I may not lose any friends this time.
Speaking of the 2010 day of infamy, this is 2 out of the last 4 major competitions they've tanked. JFC.

Deforestation of the Amazon effects rainfall in Brazil. Fewer trees = less rain.

(29,322 posts)As far as the defensive strategy adopted by Sweden. US dominated possession 63 percent and 26 shots on goal to 3.
Though I wouldn't say "cowardly" because the US adopted a "cowardly" strategy in the 2nd half against Colombia.

(9,350 posts)Then maybe the American team should be blamed. If they were able to get 26 shots at the goal and could only get one or two to go in maybe the real problem is with the American team. Seriously, Sweden was only able to get three shots on goal and I believe two went in while the Americans were able to get 26 shots and only two went in the net.

(9,350 posts)So, could California's drought be caused by a lack of trees? Were you just joking about drought being caused by a lack of trees?

(9,350 posts)I may not have done a good enough job asking my question. I was asking you if what is happening in Brazil is the same as what is happening in California. I have heard that El Nino is at least part of the cause of the drought in California. I was wondering if a lack of trees could also be a cause of drought in California. I realize that might be a stupid question, but I really wanted to know if trees could be one source of the problem in California.

(31,172 posts)the nickname given to a persistent region of atmospheric high pressure that occurs over the far northeastern Pacific Ocean (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ridiculously_Resilient_Ridge).
The RRR is also associated with the prolonged drought over California as of early 2016, which has shown up as reduced rainfall in Southern California in particular, despite with rather normal snowpack in the Sierras, as well as being suspected, but not yet conclusively proven, to be induced by global warming.
So it's unknown what causes this. But I'd say with certainty it's not the lack of California trees.
