Browns trade LB Barkevious Mingo to Patriots for fifth-round pick

The Cleveland Browns have traded linebacker Barkevious Mingo, a former first-round pick, to the New England Patriots in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2017.

The trade was reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Mingo, 25, was the sixth overall pick in the 2013 draft and has seven sacks in three seasons.

The Browns did not pick up his fifth-year option, and he was scheduled to become a free agent after this season.
