with a 35-0 victory over Austin College in Sherman this afternoon. Trinity beat Texas Lutheran 28-27 in San Antonio. Southwestern needs a victory over either Trinity or Texas Lutheran in the coming weeks to take the title outright.

Not bad for a team that is only in its 4th year, eh?

They did when I went there. They were in the Southland Conference, I think.

but the team seems to be getting a lot of support from the students, the businesses and all of Georgetown. They also seem to get a decent crowd to show up when they are on the road so I would say it worked out well. This is the last year that the SCAC will have football (the conference will exist for other sports) so any records that are set will likely stay there for a long while. Texas Lutheran and Southwestern will be associate members of the American West Conference (nearly all Texas universities) while Trinity and Austin College will be flying nearly every weekend to other schools in the Southern Athletic Association.

I'm a bit surprised that UTA doesn't have a football team considering its relative size and the number of universities within a 300 mile range. It should be able to come up with a full schedule with maybe one long distance away game every other year.
